Twenty Bag | Apr 7
Local strawberries from Hickory Bluff and Wabi Sabi Farms bring a breath of spring air into this week’s Bag, along with curly kale, cilantro, salad mix, spinach, Cherry Belle radish and spring onions.
When I picked up my Bag this morning, I heard comments from some of the Kudzu Bakery staff—excited to get their hands on early local strawberries. Who wouldn’t be?
Store these beauties, unwashed, in a reusable bag in the refrigerator. I simply slip the whole box in a bag. When you’re ready for a sweet treat, you know what to do! Slice them and toss with a little sugar, or pop them whole into your mouth.
Or, blend a few with a banana, apple or tangy orange juice, a spoonful of yogurt and an ice cube for a nutritious smoothie.
I like to store the kale and cilantro, unwashed, in separate cups of water in the fridge. The other greens stay in their respective bags and join the radishes and spring onions in separate bags in the crisper drawer.
Search sweetgrass+grits for recipes for this Bag’s goodies and plenty of others as well.
